Boston Celtics Surpass Curry’s Golden State Warriors In Three-Pointers Record
Boston Celtics have managed to break the record for most three-pointers scored in a single season in the history of the NBA.
The past record was held by Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors, when the San Francisco-based team scored 1,363 three-pointers during the 2022-23 regular-season games.
Now, Boston Celtics have surpassed that marked on a match against the Phoenix Suns, reaching 1,370 three-pointers. They then went on to play against the Washington Wizards two days later, now totaling 1,394 three-pointers in a single regular season, with still four games left.
Golden State Warriors’ Record-Breaking Season
The Denver Nuggets were the NBA champions in the 2022-23 season, but the Golden State Warriors set a record-breaking season that year.
Throughout 82 regular-season games, the Warriors achieved 1,363 three-pointers. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson particularly contributed to this record-breaking achievement, with a 42.7% and 41.2% three-point percentage respectively.
Payton Pritchard has been the most efficient contributor to Boston Celtics’ three-pointer record. The point guard currently counts with a 41.1% three-point percentage, higher than Jason Tatum’s 34.4%.
Although the team struggled in the playoffs, especially at away games, they set a 33-8 home record. This set them as the best-performing NBA team at home games for that season.
An Impressive Season for the Celtics
Surpassing Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors was a remarkable achievement for the current NBA champions, especially as Curry reached 4,000 three-pointers throughout his career in mid-March.
The Celtics have been putting on an eye-catching performance, currently ranked second in the Eastern Conference, only below the Cleveland Cavaliers, with a 58-20 record. In March, they also achieved a 9-game winning streak, including a 6-0 West Coast trip – the first time they did this in the history of the franchise.
Although Jason Tatum now sits at the outskirts of the MVP conversation, with several odds placing him in fifth, behind players like Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Tatum still leads the Celtics in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and minutes, making it a remarkable season for him as the Boston-based team remains focused on winning their 19th NBA title.
