Las Palmas's extraordinary revival continues
Las Palmas continued its climb away from the danger zone in LaLiga with a 2-1 win over Valldolid that lifted the Gran Canaria side to 14th on the table.
Sandro Ramirez was the scorer of both the goals for Los Pepineros, bagging his first in the 20th minute.
Marcos Andre equalised for the visitors just before the break, but on 64 minutes, Sandro fired home a stunning winner to ensure all three points for the hosts, leaving Valladolid bottom of the standings with on nine points from its 16 games so far.
Las Palmas boss Diego Martinez has had a transformative effect on the side he took over in early October, with the team now having one three of its past five LaLiga matches and also grabbing a Copa del Rey win over Europa in midweek.
"It has been an extraordinary week, and I can only thank the team for the effort they've put in," the Argentinean coach said.
"We are very happy for Sandro; he made a big effort to recover. His work has always been for the team, and he has a very good mentality.
"If 60 days ago someone told us we would win five of the seven matches since I’ve been here, we would have said it's crazy, but the team has done it by believing in themselves.
"These points are ours and no one can take them away; we must be very proud of the players. We will try to extend this momentum as much as possible, but we need to maintain the same confidence when adversity arrives."
