Ivanovic books last 16-spot
Ana Ivanovic booked her place in the French Open last 16 for the sixth time with a comprehensive 6-0 6-3 win over Donna Vekic.
Ana Ivanovic enjoyed her easiest match of the French Open so far on Friday as she raced in the last 16 with a straight-sets win over Donna Vekic.
The seventh seed had lost the first set in both her opening two matches at Roland Garros, having to battle past Misaki Doi in round two late into Wednesday.
She had no such problems against Vekic, though, dominating throughout as the rhythm looked to return to her game, the Serb running out a 6-0 6-3 winner.
A dominant opening set saw Vekic win just 13 points as Ivanovic - the 2008 champion - wasted no time in taking control, winning all six games in just 23 minutes.
Her impressive start stuttered a little at the start of the second as Vekic found her feet but, after breaking Ivanovic in the third, the 18-year-old lost four successive games.
With victory in sight Ivanovic played superbly in her final two service games, needing to save a break point in the last before securing her progression.
Next up for the 27-year-old will be either Elena Vesnina or Ekaterina Makarova, who play each other later on Friday.
