Five-time Olympic champion Chen retires at 23
One of China's most decorated Olympians, diver Chen Ruolin, has called time on her career due to injury.
Injury has prompted five-time Olympic diving champion Chen Ruolin to retire at the age of 23.
China's Chen - who has also claimed six world titles - won gold in the 10 metre and 10m synchronised in Beijing in 2008, retaining both crowns in London four years later.
She also kept the 10m synchronised title in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year but will not be competing in Tokyo in 2020.
"She has a neck injury which may cause some problems if she continues with her career," her team manager Zhou Jihong was quoted as saying by the South China Morning Post.
"Chen had great courage to get past the Rio Games but now she has virtually retired. She could still have a lot more to offer due to her age, skills and experience in the sport.
"It's a pity that she has to retire because of injury."
