Preamble
Can Newport pull off one of the biggest FA Cup shocks of all time and knock Tottenham out of the cup at Wembley on Wednesday evening? Many people didn't give Newport a chance two weeks ago, but Spurs needed a late goal from Harry Kane to spare their blushes at Rodney Parade.
Predictably with a North London derby happening on Saturday, Mauricio Pochettino is likely to field a weakened side for the visit of the Exiles. January signing Lucas Moura is ineligible to play, however defenders Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld may return from injury. Speaking ahead of the game, the Argentian boss Pochettino was clear that his side is not underestimating Newport. "For me, it is the same whether tomorrow is Newport or another Premier League team. We take the competition very seriously. I think it is a game that we must win."
As for Newport, they are returning to Wembley for the first time since May 2013. That day they defeated Wrexham 2-0 in the Conference playoffs to seal a return to the football league for the first time since the 1987-88 season. County is heading to arguably their biggest game in the last decade in bad form in the league and has lost their last two games. Ben White is out with a thigh strain. Whilst Sean Rigg has left the club after to quit full-time football on Monday to pursue a career as a tattoo artist.
The winner of the match will take on Rochdale in the fourth round who defeated Millwall in their replay yesterday.
