Cubs can win World Series - Maddon
Manager Joe Maddon believes the Chicago Cubs can go all the way this season.
Winning the 2015 MLB World Series is a realistic possibility for the Chicago Cubs, according to manager Joe Maddon.
The Cubs have not won the World Series since claiming back-to-back titles in 1907 and 1908, while their last appearance in the championship series was 70 years ago.
But Maddon is bullish about the Cubs' chances this season, having overseen a 72-51 win-loss record so far in the National League (NL).
Asked whether the Cubs can end their drought in 2015, Maddon told the Waddle & Silvy show via ESPN Radio: "Of course, of course.
"We're playing in maybe the best division in baseball.
"We play the Cardinals a lot. We play the Pirates a lot. We see what that looks like."
Maddon, who arrived from the Tampa Bay Rays to replace Rick Renteria in Chicago in November, added: "You have to get to five, 10, 15 and 20 games over and keep moving it from there.
"We just continue to play better baseball. Our young guys are really getting their feet on the ground. I don't think anyone is highly fatigued. I think our pitching is in pretty good order right now. Plus, we're playing better defence."
