Rossi facing investigation after Malaysia controversy
A controversial incident involving Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez dominated a Malaysian MotoGP won by Dani Pedrosa.
Valentino Rossi is facing a post-race investigation after appearing to intentionally run Marc Marquez wide at the Malaysian MotoGP on Sunday.
Rossi headed into the race with an 11-point advantage over Movistar Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo in the riders' standings, but became embroiled in a spat with outgoing champion Marquez in the build-up.
The championship leader accused Marquez of assisting Lorenzo in this year's title race and, as he tussled with the Spaniard for third place on lap seven, the pair had a coming together at turn 14.
Rossi pushed Marquez wide, casting what looked to be a knowing glance in the direction of the Repsol Honda rider who slid off - forced to retire as a result.
Dani Pedrosa converted his pole position into a race victory, finishing ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, who could well move top of the championship as a result.
Rossi - also accused of a kick in the incident that saw Marquez go off - came home in third, but with some form of penalty seeming highly likely, his chances of holding onto those 16 points appear slim.
