The New England Patriots are into the AFC Championship game following a 27-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional playoffs on Saturday. 

The Patriots held the lead for the entire contest and subsequently moved into a fifth-straight championship game, and will now play the winner of the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos next Sunday for a spot in Superbowl 50. 

Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots got the first points on an eight-yard pass from Tom Brady for the touchdown, before Cairo Santos hit a field goal to bring the Chiefs within four. 

After a second quarter controlled mainly by the Chiefs, it was Brady who struck for the Patriots, carrying the ball for a long gain down to the goal line, before punching it in on the quarterback sneak on the next play.

Once again, Santos nailed a field goal at the end of the quarter but the Patriots extended their lead after making the Chiefs pay for a turnover, with Brady passing to Gronkowski for another touchdown. 

The Chiefs finally found the end zone on a sliding catch by Albert Wilson, but two field goals from Stephen Gostkowski extended the Patriots' lead. 

A short run by Charcandrick West saw the Chiefs pull the deficit to within seven points late in the game, but some stellar defence from the Patriots saw them hold on for the victory. 

The Patriots now wait for the winner of the Cincinnati Bengals against the Denver Broncos as they look to go a second consecutive Superbowl.
