Vazquez ruled out of Madrid's clash with City
Real Madrid has confirmed that Lucas Vazquez will miss its UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester City this week because of a hamstring injury.
Vazquez was replaced by Luka Modric in the 81st minute during the La Liga draw with rival Atletico Madrid, a game that ended 1-1.
The Spaniard has featured in 30 matches across all competitions this season, registering two goals and five assists in those appearances for Madrid.
His injury hands Carlo Ancelotti another defensive issue, with the likes of Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger also out.
Ahead of the clash at Etihad Stadium, the LaLiga leader only has Raul Asensio as a recognised centre-back, alongside full-backs Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy.
"After tests carried out on Lucas Vazquez today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his left hamstring," a Madrid statement read.
"He will not be in the squad to travel to Manchester."
