Monza reappoints sacked manager Nesta
Monza welcomed Alessandro Nesta back to the club, with the 48 year-old taking over as the Serie A struggler's new manager just seven weeks after he was sacked.
Nesta was replaced by Salvatore Bocchetti in December, with the Italian signing a contract until June 2027, but won just one of his seven games at the helm.
Bocchetti's final match in charge came in a 5-1 defeat to Lazio, leaving Monza rooted to the bottom of the table and eight points adrift of safety.
Monza scored just six goals from the seven games Bocchetti oversaw before he was sacked, with the 38-year-old leaving the Stadio Brianteo with a win percentage of just 14.29 percent.
Nesta first took charge of Monza when Raffaele Palladino departed for Fiorentina at the end of last season, but his first managerial role in Serie A ended 175 days later.
The former AC Milan and Lazio defender won just three of his 20 games in charge across all competitions, and now has a huge task on his hands to keep Monza in Serie A.
Nesta's first match comes next Monday, with Monza welcoming 14th-placed Lecce to the Stadio Brianteo.
