Iraola wary of Palace despite recent form
Andoni Iraola says "every point you get is expensive" as he predicts Bournemouth will face a tough test when it travels to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Bournemouth earned its first win in fewer than two months with a 1-0 win over Fulham in midweek, ending a run of six without a victory in the competition.
It sits eighth on the Premier League table, with hopes of claiming a European place next season still alive.
Last term, Bournemouth finished 12th with 48 points, its current tally this season, and Iraola wants his team to surpass that with a win at Selhurst Park.
"It is one of the goals that we have [to better the points tally," he said.
"We have the first chance to beat it against Crystal Palace on Saturday [Sunday AEST]. It is not going to be easy, every point you get is expensive, but we are in a good place."
Iraola also acknowledged how important it was for Bournemouth to keep a clean sheet after a long run without one.
"In the last few games, the opponents were scoring two goals, and when you concede two goals, it is very difficult to win a Premier League game," he added.
Palace, meanwhile, has stumbled in recent weeks, losing 5-2 to Manchester City and 5-0 to Newcastle United in its past two Premier League games.
That ended a six-game unbeaten streak in all competitions for the Eagles, who are 12th on the table, five points behind the Cherries.
After the heavy defeat at Newcastle, captain Marc Guehi acknowledged the team needed to put the result behind it ahead of the run-in.
"Our mindset is that we have no excuses," he said. "We all take responsibility.
"We all have to look ourselves in the mirror and make sure that we're better next time. It doesn't matter where you go. Every game in the Premier League is tough, and it's important that we stand up to those challenges.
"We have to pick ourselves back up. We've got an exciting end to the season, and it's important that the next game is the most important one, and we focus step-by-step on how we can get better."
