Javi Gracia Confirms Exit From Malaga
Javi Gracia has confirmed that he has accepted an offer to coach Russian side Rubin Kazan.
beIN SPORTS Javi Gracia has confirmed that he has accepted an offer to coach Russian side Rubin Kazan. The Malaga boss and his agent met Sheikh Al-Thani, owner of the Spanish club, informing him of the decision to leave for Russia. Diario Sur first reported of the interest from Russia in April, and themselves today confirmed that Gracia would be leaving. An official statement is due soon, as Gracia told reporters "this decision is the best for everyone" as he left Malaga's HQ.
Gracia only signed a new two year deal two months ago, but a lucrative offer from Russia has blown his Malaga salary out the water. Rubin see the impressive coach as the man to turn around their flagging project. A disappointing tenth-place finish which saw them miss out on European football for next campaign. With limited financial resources and playing squad, Gracia has produced two top half finishes in two years at Malaga. Former Real Madrid manager Juande Ramos is a lead contender to take the job at La Rosaleda.
