Tennis : Jannik Sinner inquiet pour Roland Garros
Touché à la hanche droite et forfait pour le Masters 1000 de Rome qui débute ce mercredi (10-21 mai), Jannik Sinner a fait part de son inquiétude concernant sa participation à Roland Garros.
Roland Garros a décidément du souci à se faire. Alors que Rafael Nadal et Carlos Alcaraz ne sont pas certains de disputer la seconde levée du Grand Chelem, la faute à des problèmes physiques récalcitrants, c’est au tour du numéro 2 mondial, Jannik Sinner, d’afficher ses doutes sur sa participation. Touché à la hanche droite, l’Italien a été contraint de renoncer à se produire devant son public lors du Masters 1000 de Rome (10 au 21 mai).
Affecté par ce forfait qui l’empêche de défendre ses chances à domicile, le vainqueur de l’Open d’Australie 2024 a également jeté un froid sur sa présence à Roland Garros (26 mai - 9 juin). “Je disputerai Roland-Garros si et seulement si je suis à 100%. S'il y a même l'ombre d'un doute, il faudra réfléchir", a affirmé Jannik Sinner dans le cadre d’une conférence de presse organisée ce dimanche soir, avant d’évoquer sa blessure.
Sinner ne prendra aucun risque
"Je ne veux pas entrer dans les détails, on pensait au début que ce n'était pas, entre guillemets, un problème grave, mais les IRM ont montré qu'il y avait quelque chose qui ne va pas à 100 %”. Une donnée est plutôt claire dans son esprit. Au moindre doute, l’Italien ne prendra aucune décision susceptible de mettre en péril le reste de sa carrière.
“La situation est, je crois, sous contrôle. Une chose est sûre : si je ne suis pas guéri à 100%, je ferai une autre pause, car je n'ai pas envie de perdre trois années dans ma carrière. Je ne suis pas pressé, cela fait mal (de ne pas jouer), mais guérir mon corps est le plus important”, insiste-t-il. Malgré une saison sur terre battue en dents de scie, le Transalpin veut se donner les moyens de fouler l’ocre parisien. Lui qui n’a jamais dépassé le stade des quarts de finale dans le tournoi (2020, défaite face à Nadal).
“Ma préparation pour Paris ne sera pas optimale, car il ne restera plus beaucoup de temps, mais ce qui est sûr, c'est que je vais tout donner pour être en position de jouer". Le compte à rebours est lancé.
