No all-French final in Limoges as Cornet loses
Caroline Garcia will face Ekaterina Alexandrova instead of French compatriot Alize Cornet in the Open de Limoges final.
Home fans at the Open de Limoges were denied an all-French final as Alize Cornet suffered defeat to Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semi-finals after Caroline Garcia overcame Natalia Vikhlyantseva.
Top seed Garcia needed two hours and 24 minutes to see off a player ranked 142 places below her, coming through 7-6 (7-3) 3-6 7-6 (8-6).
But Cornet was stunned by Alexandrova as she collapsed in the final set, losing 3-6 6-2 6-0.
Meanwhile, at the OEC Taipei WTA Challenger, Evgeniya Rodina only had to play a set in her semi-final as Olga Govortsova retired after losing the first 6-2. She will face Chang Kai-Chen in the final following her surprise 6-3 6-2 victory over Marina Erakovic.
