Uruguayan Diego Forlán, former national team player, will make his professional tennis debut at the Montevideo Challenger next November, partnering with Federico Coria in what will be his first tournament at 45 years old.
Forlán, who scored 36 goals for Uruguay and played for clubs like Manchester United, Villarreal, and Atlético Madrid, has received a wildcard to play in the doubles draw alongside Coria.
The Uruguayan has participated in several matches on the ITF senior circuit for players over 30, currently ranking 744th in the +40 category and 108th in the +45 category.
In 2024, Forlán has played 11 matches, all on clay courts, with a record of eight wins and three losses.
Coria, 32, is ranked 101st in the ATP rankings and also runs a YouTube channel (@fedecoriatenis) where he shares insights into the life of a professional tennis player.
The Montevideo Challenger is Uruguay's most prestigious tennis tournament and will take place from November 11 to 17.
