Who is Lamine Yamal's Replacement in Spain?
The Spanish national team announced that the player who will replace the injured Lamine Yamal is Girona winger, Bryan Gil.
Bryan Gil, winger for Girona, has been called up by coach Luis de la Fuente to take the spot left by the injured Lamine Yamal for Spain's final two group-stage matches in the Nations League against Denmark and Switzerland in Tenerife.
Lamine Yamal's ankle injury, which kept him from playing with Barcelona in their La Liga visit to Real Sociedad, also rules him out of the Spanish national team. He missed Spain's last match against Serbia.
Yamal will not travel to Madrid to be examined by the Spanish team doctors, after discussions with Barcelona and the medical report, which points to an ankle issue that will keep him out for about two weeks. De la Fuente has immediately called up Bryan Gil, who was previously selected in the last squad but had to withdraw due to a muscular problem.
Spain will gather on Tuesday at the Ciudad del Fútbol with new call-ups Samu Omorodion, Aitor Paredes, and Marc Casadó, as well as the returns of Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, Yeremy Pino, and Bryan Gil. Already qualified for the Nations League semifinals and needing just one point to secure first place in the group, Spain will face Denmark on Friday in Copenhagen and Switzerland on Monday in Tenerife.
