Cole Palmer, a Chelsea player, has been named the best footballer of the England national team for the 2023-2024 season.

Despite not starting any matches in the Euro Championship, he won this award over Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka. The votes were cast by England fans.

Palmer made his debut for England in November of last year and has since played nine matches, scoring two goals and providing one assist. One of his goals came in the Euro final against Spain, where he came off the bench to level the match at 1-1 before Mikel Oyarzábal scored the decisive 2-1.

In the continental tournament, Palmer was not used in the first two group stage matches and started coming on as a substitute in the third group stage game. In addition to his goal against Spain, he also provided an assist against the Netherlands in the semifinals.

At the club level, Palmer scored 22 goals for Chelsea in the previous Premier League season, making him the second-highest scorer in the competition, behind Erling Haaland.

This season, he has started strongly with six goals in seven matches, including four goals in just twenty minutes against Brighton.
