In Spain, it's All Good News at EURO 2024
The Spanish national team prepped for their second EURO match against Italy behind closed doors, bringing good news for Luis de la Fuente. For the first time, he could work with all 26 players he selected for the tournament, with Aymeric Laporte back in the group, and Rodri Hernández and Álvaro Morata recovered from their injuries.
Laporte tested himself with the rest of the squad and, after doing some fieldwork in the afternoon, completed the Tuesday morning session with the group. He’s overcoming a muscle strain that kept him out of the game against Croatia in Berlin and is pushing to get some minutes against Italy in Gelsenkirchen.
Meanwhile, the two captains of the Spanish team have eased any worries after they left the pitch early in the opening match. Morata, who worked out in the gym yesterday, returned to the field without any issues from the hard knock he took against Croatia.
Rodri, who had two days off with physiotherapy treatment, laced up his boots again and felt fine despite the cramps he had on Saturday. There haven’t been any muscle problems, and he was able to complete the session.
De la Fuente decided to close the training session to prepare in detail for the match against Italy, focusing on the tactical aspects discussed in video sessions and chats with the players.
The coach hasn’t given any hints about the starting lineup he plans to use against Italy or if he’ll make any changes from the start. A second win would secure the top spot in the group and allow him to rotate the entire team for the final group match against Albania.
