Did You Know De la Fuente Was Scaloni's Teacher?
Luis De la Fuente was a teacher of the current coach of the World Champion Argentine National Team, Lionel Scaloni.
In an interview during his time at Euro 2024 in Germany, the current coach of the Spanish national team, Luis De la Fuente, mentioned that he used to be the teacher of Lionel Scaloni, the current coach of the Argentine national team who led them to win a Copa America and the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
De la Fuente also shared that he had the opportunity to teach several coaches who are now at the top of international football. “I’ve been lucky enough to teach various coaching courses. We taught this generation of footballers like Xavi Hernández, Xabi Alonso, Raúl. Football stars who now wanted to become coaches, and I had the luck to train Lionel Scaloni among them,” the Spanish coach said.
“We have an exceptional relationship. He's a world champion. Sure, he was quite questioned at the beginning because he arrived with little experience, some say, but he’s had the ‘bad’ luck of making Argentina champions of both America and the World, and now he’s on his way to another,” he stated.
