De la Fuente's Got the Key to Spain's Victory in the EURO
The Spanish national team wrapped up their prep for the Round of 16 with one last practice before heading to Cologne. Coach Luis de la Fuente gave a pep talk, telling all 26 players, now with Jesús Navas back in the squad, to enjoy themselves and not worry about the pressure.
Before the training session, De la Fuente had a few words with his players, urging them to work as hard as they would in a match, enjoy the moment, and not stress about getting knocked out if they lose. He wanted them to focus on the positives and keep up the strong performance they've shown so far. Spain is the only team in the tournament with three wins in three games.
The atmosphere was great, with everyone cheering when Lamine Yamal arrived late to practice, having lost track of time. There were plenty of jokes and friendly teasing during the warm-up drills.
Then, with the mood getting a bit more serious, De la Fuente went over the final details behind closed doors ahead of their match against Georgia. The good news is he had all 26 players available, with Nacho Fernández and Ayoze Pérez fully recovered from their muscle issues and Jesús Navas back with the group.
Dani Carvajal will be back in the starting lineup against Georgia, but he will be available on the bench. After their last practice, the Spanish players will have lunch at their hotel before heading to their next destination in the tournament: Cologne.
