Switzerland caused a major upset at EURO 2024 by knocking out the reigning champions, Italy. The second goal, scored by Rubén Vargas, not only earned him the Man of the Match award but also drew attention as one of the best goals of the tournament.

Rubén Vargas was crucial in the Swiss victory, scoring a brilliant goal in the 46th minute by placing the ball into the top right corner, out of the reach of Gianluigi Donnarumma and his 1.96-meter frame.

Vargas, just 25 years old and a player for Augsburg in Germany, netted his first goal in a EURO for Switzerland in his eighth appearance for the national team, having already made over 45 appearances for his country.
