In the first match of Group D in EURO 2024 against Austria, Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid's new player and a star for the French national team, was subbed off in the 90th minute. He got a nasty cut and a knock on the nose from an accidental clash with Kevin Danso. Mbappé headed straight to the locker room, covering the bleeding, awaiting medical assessment.

Mbappé went up for a header, connected with the ball, but also collided with the Austrian defender’s shoulder. He stayed down for a bit, got some medical attention, and the doctors decided he couldn't continue. Olivier Giroud came on to replace him, but not before getting a yellow card for entering the pitch without permission.

On the other hand, the newspaper "L'Equipe" has just confirmed that Mbappé will have to undergo surgery at the University Hospital of Düsseldorf.

Mbappé will either play EURO 2024 with a mask, as players like Osimhen, Lewandowski, and Fernando Torres have done in the past, or he will miss the rest of the tournament. Only time will tell the fate of the French football star.
