Spain defeats and eliminates Germany from Euro 2024.
In a thrilling match with some controversy, Spain eliminated Germany from Euro 2024 by beating them 2-1 in extra time at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The scoring opened in the 51' minute with a fantastic goal from Dani Olmo, who struck a precise shot leaving Manuel Neuer with no chance, putting Spain ahead 1-0 and raising the possibility of an early exit for the host nation.
However, in the dying moments of regular time, Florian Wirtz equalized with a near-impossible shot for Unai Simon in the 89' minute.
In extra time, Spain threw everything they had at Germany, and Mikel Merino headed in the decisive goal, making it 2-1 for Spain and securing their spot in the semifinals. Later on, Dani Carvajal was sent off for accumulating yellow cards and will miss the next match.
With Spain already through to the semifinals, they now await their opponent from the match between France and Portugal.
