José Mourinho Blasts Referee After Being Sent Off in Fenerbahçe vs. Manchester United Match
José Mourinho's Fenerbahçe managed a 1-1 draw against Manchester United, in a match overshadowed by the Portuguese coach's expulsion and his post-game reaction to the officiating.
The Portuguese coach did not hide his frustration over referee Clement Turpin's decision not to award a penalty.
“I congratulate him because it’s absolutely incredible. His peripheral vision during the match, 100 mph, he had one eye on the penalty situation and another on the bench watching my behavior,” commented “The Special One.”
Mourinho kept his comments brief about his expulsion, stating, “I don’t want to talk about it. He told me something unbelievable. He said he could see both the action in the box and my behavior on the sideline.”
Finally, the coach quoted the referee's explanation that no foul had occurred and concluded with a particular tone, saying, “That’s the explanation he gave me. That’s why he’s one of the best referees in the world. I saw the incident, I’m not talking about the incident.”
