Luis Enrique Reacts to Psg’s Champions League Draw
The Paris Saint-Germain coach, Luis Enrique, acknowledged his concerns about the future in the Champions League after failing to secure a win against PSV at home, but he remained optimistic and expressed confidence in his players' mentality.
"Of course, I am worried about my team's chances (of qualifying), but I like the mentality I see in my players," the coach told Canal Plus television.
He noted that the draw was "complicated" for PSG, which now has four points after the first three group stage matches.
"I believe we are the team that creates the most chances in the Champions League, or one of the top teams."
"I have no doubt that the team is aligned with what I want; they are playing the football I envision," he said.
"Tonight, we were better; we created more chances and deserved to win, but this is football," he added.
In the press conference, the coach stated that "it's difficult to accept a result like this" and insisted they were superior to their opponent and deserved the victory.
"We created many more chances than our opponent; we deserved to win the match, but we weren't accurate with our decisive shots. I try to demand that our initiative in the game be better than the opponent's, and we did that. I believe we deserved to win. But sometimes football is capricious; this draw is unfair, and we could even have lost," he pointed out.
"We have the toughest group, and we must be prepared to progress. It will be difficult, and I am concerned," he said.
Luis Enrique stated that he is the one responsible at PSG and refused to comment on any particular player.
"I would put out the same lineup again; this pessimism is due to an unfair result, but I am calm," he indicated.
"We can improve, but I have no complaints about the players. At halftime, I told them to continue along the same line," he noted.
