Joshua Kimmich Urges not To Underestimate Real Madrid
The FC Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich warned today ahead of the Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid that the Merengue team is "always dangerous", but noted that the Bavarians also don't need to "hide".
"We know that Real Madrid has a lot of experience and that they have won many matches because of it. Maybe they didn't always have the best team, but they have progressed because they believed in their strength and knew their qualities," Kimmich said at a press conference.
Furthermore, he stated that they have the ability to "defeat any opponent" and "always bounce back".
However, FC Bayern also doesn't need to "shy away", as they have also had two good games against Arsenal.
"What we need to do is take risks and have the courage to attack," said the co-captain, even though it has been a season of "ups and downs" for Bayern.
"I am optimistic. We can enter the match with confidence in ourselves," he assured.
"I am extremely excited. I think all football fans in Europe are. It's a cool feeling to play the semifinal against Real Madrid," Kimmich emphasized.
Regarding tensions between coach Thomas Tuchel and Bayern's honorary president Uli Hoeneß, he indicated that it "doesn't affect" the players. "The focus is clear, and we are right to concentrate," he said.
He also had words for his teammate Jamal Musiala, who he said was almost "a kid" when he joined the team and has now been "growing as a person" and "becoming a man".
