Harsh Criticism Targets Vinícius After Champions League Match Against RB Leipzig
After getting into a heated exchange with RB Leipzig's captain, Willi Orban, the Real Madrid player has been facing a lot of criticism.
Despite the match ending in a 1-1 draw and the White Club securing a spot in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 aggregate, it was a game that proved challenging for the Madrid side. Tensions escalated, and Vinícius once again made headlines for pushing and grabbing an opponent by the neck.
Initially, the Real Madrid legend and former sports director from 2006 to 2009, Pedrag Mijatovic, didn't hold back his feelings and expressed his displeasure with Vinícius' behavior during the Champions League round of 16 second leg against RB Leipzig. Mijatovic couldn't resist sharing his thoughts on Cadena SER, advising the Brazilian winger, "The Real Madrid shirt can't handle this kind of behavior, maybe another team's can. I would recommend Vinícius find a way to calm down or he won't become a great player."
On the other hand, the German newspaper "Bild" characterized the incident involving Vinícius and Orban in a peculiar way, stating there was a scandal over Vinícius, the "choker." In response, Orban himself commented on the situation, saying, "Unfortunately, the referees don't have the courage to send off these players. It was a straight red. He grabs my neck with both hands. It's disrespectful," said the Hungarian defender to Sky Sports Austria.
Furthermore, Orban's teammate, Benjamin Henrichs, added, "I'll be honest, if it had been the other way around, and I grabbed a Real Madrid player by the neck, I would have been sent off," said the German defender.
