Scare for Real Madrid Ahead of Champions League Debut
Jude Bellingham and Aurélien Tchouaméni were the positive notes in Real Madrid's training session, but Militao was the negative one.
Real Madrid completed their final training session ahead of their Champions League opener with Aurélien Tchouaméni and Jude Bellingham back in the group and included in the squad. Éder Militao, who missed training due to discomfort from Saturday's match against Real Sociedad, was also named in the squad but remains doubtful for the clash against Stuttgart.
Carlo Ancelotti must decide whether to include Tchouaméni and Bellingham, who have successfully completed two training sessions since recovering from their injuries. Militao, on the other hand, trained lightly apart from the group on Monday.
Despite Ancelotti's earlier assurance that Militao had no serious issues following the Real Sociedad game—where the Brazilian was seen testing his right knee, which was operated on a year ago after a cruciate ligament injury—Militao did not rejoin group training after Sunday's recovery session.
With David Alaba still recovering from his knee injury, Ancelotti must decide whether to deploy Tchouaméni as a central defender alongside Antonio Rüdiger for the Stuttgart game, or to give a chance to Jesús Vallejo, who traveled to San Sebastián after overcoming a muscle injury.
In addition to the absences of Militao and Alaba, Real Madrid is preparing for their first Champions League match without Brahim Díaz, who is out for over two months due to a right abductor injury, along with Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga.
The starting players from Saturday's match increased their training intensity, while academy central defender Jacobo Ramón continued his recovery with steady running after suffering a muscle injury ten days ago.
Militao Included in the Squad
Brazilian defender Militao, who had missed his national team duties due to a muscular strain, felt discomfort during the match against Real Sociedad on Saturday. While it didn't prevent him from finishing the game, it has kept him from training since. Ancelotti has managed his condition carefully but included him in the squad as no injury has been confirmed.
