FC Barcelona's New Travel Routine Under Hansi Flick
The German coach is changing some of the habits Barcelona had under Xavi, including their travel routine for the Champions League.
The arrival of Hansi Flick as FC Barcelona's head coach has brought several logistical changes to how the team approaches home games and travel arrangements.
According to Mundo Deportivo, these changes were evident this past weekend when the team stayed overnight in Girona before their match at Montilivi. For their upcoming Champions League debut, Flick is implementing a new strategy.
Instead of returning home immediately after the match, the Barcelona squad will stay overnight in Monaco and fly back the following day. This shift in routine is part of Flick's efforts to introduce his own methods and philosophies into the daily operations of the team.
Here’s a breakdown of FC Barcelona's travel plan for their Champions League match:
Wednesday, September 18:
- 5:00 PM (11 AM ET): Departure on charter flight AEA937 to Nice.
- 6:10 PM (12:10 PM ET): Arrival at Nice airport and transfer by coach to Hotel The Maybourne Riviera.
Friday, September 20:
- 10:25 AM (4:25 AM ET): Departure on charter flight AEA938 back to Barcelona.
- 11:35 AM (5:35 AM ET): Arrival at Barcelona airport and transfer to the Ciudad Deportiva.
Flick's adjustments reflect his new approach to team management and preparation, marking a notable shift in how the club handles match-day logistics.
