Brandt Warns Real Madrid: "If We Have a Good Day..."
Julian Brandt, Borussia Dortmund winger, has said that for the Champions League final against Real Madrid, if they "have a good day" and do their job, they can "win."
The versatile forward told the club's media that they shouldn't worry about Real Madrid being the favorite but should "go there and do exactly" what they showed "in Paris" and "at home against Atlético."
"We accept it. This is what you can and must do. I think it can also be good because there will be some pressure on Real Madrid. Many will assume they have to win it in the end," Brandt stated.
Regarding the opponent, the German said that "they are always capable of scoring goals and completely unbalancing a team," as "they can not only attack but also defend well and, at times, suffer," and "they have many facets, which makes them so unpredictable."
"But I think we're also having an exceptional season in the Champions League. The favorite role is clearly divided, but in the final, anything is still possible," he asserted.
His teammate, defender Nico Schlotterbeck, agreed that they must "quickly get into" their "game structure, move the ball quickly," and try to impose it on Real Madrid. "If we can do that, I'm sure we'll succeed," the defender concluded.
Turkish international Salih Özcan emphasized that the warm-up match was "good for everyone and kept the mood high," and that they have "rehearsed processes" on how both the Germans and Real Madrid will start.
Regarding it being Marco Reus's last game in the black and yellow jersey, Özcan said that as a team, they "would like him to take another trophy home."
Forward Karim Adeyemi shared the sentiment: "We will definitely try to make that happen for Marco. It's not just about us, but also about Marco having a nice farewell," he said.
On reuniting with Jude Bellingham, who moved from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid just a year ago, Adeyemi noted that "he's having a great season," with a "different role" than he had in the German team, but "he's doing very, very well and has already scored many goals," he concluded.
