Galatasaray Secures Süper Lig Lead with Victor Osimhen’s Double
Galatasaray tightened its grip on the Süper Lig top spot, edging out second-place Samsunspor 3-2. A red-hot Victor Osimhen netted twice, with Batshuayi adding another goal for the hosts. Samsunspor’s two goals both came from penalties, converted by Ntcham and Bennasser.
The first goal came just 3 minutes in, giving Galatasaray an early lead over their closest rival. The most touching moment followed when Osimhen held up teammate Mauro Icardi’s jersey and mimicked his signature celebration. It was a show of support for Icardi, who tore his ACL and is sidelined for the rest of the season.
Samsunspor equalized in the 50th minute with a well-taken penalty by Ntcham. But just five minutes later, Osimhen struck again from close range, putting Galatasaray back in the lead. That marked his sixth goal in six appearances, along with two assists.
Galatasaray extended the lead with a goal from Batshuayi. Despite Samsunspor’s last-minute penalty goal in the 90th minute, it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat. With this win, Galatasaray, reigning champions of the Süper Lig, stay at the top with 31 points, now six points ahead of Samsunspor, who remain in second, awaiting Fenerbahce’s result.
