Galatasaray Takes the Win in the Classic Against Mourinho's Fenerbahce
Galatasaray beat Mourinho’s Fenerbahce 1-3 on their turf in the Süper Lig classic. Lucas Torreira, Dries Mertens, and Gabriel Sara found the back of the net for the reigning champs, while Edin Dzeko scored the lone goal for Fenerbahce from the penalty spot.
The first half was all about Galatasaray's offensive firepower, with Torreira scoring a stunning volley in the 20th minute. Then, when Galatasaray was pressing even more, the former Napoli duo struck again. Osimhen controlled a cross with his chest and set up Dries Mertens, who chipped it in to double the lead in the 28th minute of the Turkish derby.
In the second half, Galatasaray kept the same intensity, and despite Fenerbahce’s efforts to get closer, Gabriel Sara made it 0-3 in the 59th minute. Fenerbahce got one back with a penalty from Edin Dzeko, but it wasn't enough.
With this result, Galatasaray stays on top of the Süper Lig with 18 points, now 5 points ahead of Fenerbahce, who remains in second with 13 points.
