Galatasaray's Signing to Counter Mourinho Effect
Galatasaray, one of Turkey's most successful clubs, announced on Monday the signing of Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara from English side Norwich for 18 million euros (19.6 million dollars).
The 25-year-old player has signed a five-year contract and will earn 2.75 million euros (2.9 million dollars) per season, according to a statement from the Turkish club.
Galatasaray will pay Norwich 18 million euros in nine installments over three seasons, the statement specifies.
This signing is the most expensive in Galatasaray's history and the second most expensive in the entire Turkish Super Lig, only behind Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri, who was signed by Fenerbahçe from Sevilla last month for 19.5 million euros.
Sara was trained in the Sao Paulo academy and joined their first team in 2019, before moving to Norwich City in 2022 for 10.5 million euros.
In 86 matches for Norwich in the Championship, the English second division, the Brazilian has scored 20 goals and made 16 assists, an impressive record highlighted by the Turkish club.
