Göztepe Pulls Off an Upset and Stops Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe!
Fenerbahçe drew 2-2 against Göztepe in a match where the hosts fought until the end to level the score with an extraordinary goal from Rômulo Cardoso, denying the three points to the team managed by Mourinho.
The first half was marked by Fenerbahçe's dominance, reflected in an excellent penalty goal by Džeko in the 45+3’ minute and another by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 45+7’. With a superb strike, En-Nesyri gave his team a double lead at halftime.
In the second half, Göztepe came out unrecognizable and worked until the end to turn the match around. The situation worsened for Mourinho's team starting from the 68’ minute when Koray Günter reduced the deficit with a great goal that made the Fenerbahçe players nervous, who couldn't withstand the rival's momentum.
Finally, Rômulo Cardoso appeared at the very end of the match with a goal in the 90+5’ minute, snatching two points from a favored Fenerbahçe. Cardoso redeemed himself after having a goal disallowed in the first half, securing the draw for Göztepe.
With this result, Fenerbahçe is now third in the Süper Lig with 4 points. Although it is only the second round, they missed out on valuable points in their bid to overtake Galatasaray for the championship.
