En-Nesyri under pressure: Mourinho seeks reinforcements as Madrid eyes Davinson Sánchez
Youssef En-Nesyri, Moroccan forward for Fenerbahçe, is going through a difficult start to the season, with only one goal in the 11 matches he has played between the Turkish Super League and the Europa League. Despite his reputation as a scorer and his aerial strengths, his poor performance is starting to raise concerns. In the league, En-Nesyri has accumulated an expected goal tally of 2.94 over seven matches, averaging 2.1 shots per game. However, he has converted only 7% of his chances, a low figure for a player of his caliber.
Adding to this challenge is his low aerial duel effectiveness, winning just 39%, and an average of 4.7 ball losses per match—statistics that fall short of Fenerbahçe's expectations after signing him as a star from Sevilla. En-Nesyri has also struggled in the Europa League, where he hasn't scored or assisted, despite starting most of the matches.
This situation has led coach José Mourinho to rethink the team's strategy and seek reinforcements. The Portuguese manager has once again requested Fenerbahçe's board to reopen negotiations for left-back Sergio Reguilón, who is currently at Tottenham and out of favor under Spurs’ management. The addition of an experienced player like Reguilón would be key to strengthening the Turkish team's defense.
Meanwhile, there are rumors in European football that Real Madrid is interested in Colombian defender Davinson Sánchez, currently at Galatasaray. In need of defensive reinforcements, the Madrid club may consider making an offer during the January transfer window. Sánchez, 28, has been a key player for his team and has attracted interest from several clubs after showcasing his solidity both in the Turkish league and with the Colombian national team.
