Nicolò Fagioli Returns from Betting Suspension
Italian footballer Nicolò Fagioli is back in Juventus' squad after serving a 7-month suspension related to the "Betting Case."
Uruguayan coach Paolo Montero, who took over this Sunday following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri due to his behavior in the Coppa Italia final, has included the young midfielder in the squad for Monday's match against Thiago Motta's Bologna. The last time Fagioli was included in a squad was for the match against Atalanta in October of last year, 232 days ago.
On October 17th, Fagioli reached a plea agreement with the Italian Football Federation after admitting to betting on football and other sports on illegal platforms. He received a seven-month suspension from play and a minimum of six months of therapy, in addition to a fine of 12,500 euros.
In November, Juventus, who showed support for the youth academy product in a statement, extended his contract by two years, now running until 2028.
Fagioli made an appearance on the club's TikTok channel this Monday, entering training with fellow midfielder Weston McKennie, who greeted him with, "Welcome back, Fagiolino, see you at the match."
