Ex-Roma Player’s House Catches Fire While He Was Receiving an Award
Borja Mayoral had a scare when his house in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, caught fire while he was attending the ceremony for the Zarra Trophy, which recognizes him as the top Spanish goal scorer of last season. The fire started in an upstairs room and spread to the ceiling, causing significant damage. At the time, the house was empty, except for the two dogs of the footballer, who were rescued by the firefighters.
The fire began just before 3 p.m., and while the exact cause hasn’t been confirmed, it’s speculated to be an electrical fault. The Madrid Community Firefighters quickly put out the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further. The animals were handed over to neighbors until Mayoral and his partner, Flavia Natalini, arrived at the scene.
Through social media, Borja Mayoral thanked everyone for their support and confirmed that both he and his family were safe. "Luckily, both my family and I are fine, and it was just a scare," he wrote on his X account. His partner also shared a message, expressing gratitude to the firefighters for their intervention.
The fire mainly affected the upper floor of the house, where the room was completely burned. Fortunately, the ground floor didn’t suffer any damage. Although the material damages are considerable, the most important thing is that there were no casualties. Mayoral, who is still recovering from a meniscus injury, will have to wait a few more days for repairs to his home.
