AC Milan Announces Signing of Former Barcelona Player
Brazilian defender Emerson Royal has been unveiled as the newest member of AC Milan, joining from Tottenham Hotspur, as announced by the Italian club on their website.
The 25-year-old has signed a contract with the 'rossoneri' until June 30, 2028, with an option to extend for another year.
Royal began his career in the youth ranks at Ponte Preta, making his debut for the first team in February 2017. In 2018, he moved to Atlético Mineiro, where his performances in 23 games with one goal caught the attention of Real Betis, who signed him in January 2019.
After a brief stint at Barcelona, Royal's most recent spell was with Tottenham, where he played 101 matches and scored four goals since joining in 2021. The player will wear the number 22 jersey and becomes the third signing for AC Milan under coach Paulo Fonseca, following the arrivals of Strahinja Pavlovic and Álvaro Morata.
