"Messinho" Signs with Chelsea
The young 17-year-old footballer, Estevao Willian—better known as "Messinho"—has signed with Chelsea for a sum of 34 million euros, plus various bonuses that bring the total transfer to around 61 million euros, making it one of the most expensive transfers in South America, surpassing the 60 million euros that Real Madrid paid for his compatriot Endrick.
"Messinho" has signed a seven-year contract and will be linked to the London club until 2032; moreover, Estevao will be the fourth player to join Chelsea, now sharing the dressing room with Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, and Angelo Gabriel.
The Brazilian was an important player at Palmeiras and, although he only played 10 games, he contributed with two goals and two assists; however, his ball-handling skills greatly helped the Carioca team generate danger at the opponent's goal.
The promising player will be able to wear the Blues' jersey until 2025 when he reaches the age of majority. Until then, "Messinho" will continue wearing Palmeiras' colors and can play several matches in the Brazilian Serie A to continue gaining experience before arriving at Stamford Bridge.
