Van Nistelrooy Out at Manchester United Following Amorim’s Arrival
Manchester United officially announced on Monday, through a statement, the end of their relationship with interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy and confirmed the arrival of head coach Rúben Amorim, from Sporting CP in Portugal, who has already completed his first day with the team.
"Rúben Amorim is now at Carrington (Manchester United’s training ground and youth academy)," the English club shared on its website. "The new Manchester United coach, Rúben Amorim, arrived at the complex this Monday afternoon after boarding a flight from Beja Airport in Portugal to Manchester, just hours after guiding Sporting to a 4-2 victory over Braga," added the club’s statement.
Upon his arrival, he was greeted by Manchester United’s CEO, Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox. According to United’s reports, Amorim will also meet "key personnel" to start his role once he obtains his work visa.
"Our new head coach has thirteen days to prepare for his first game in charge of the first team: Sunday, November 24, against Ipswich Town."
The club also issued an official statement to bid farewell to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who took the role following Erik ten Hag’s departure after United's 2-1 loss to West Ham on October 27. Van Nistelrooy, a former player for Real Madrid and other top clubs, successfully managed United in the four matches under his watch: securing a 5-2 victory over Leicester in the FA Cup, a 3-0 win against Leicester in the Premier League, a 1-1 draw with Chelsea, and a 2-0 triumph over PAOK in the Europa League.
"Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend. We are grateful for his contribution and the way he took on his role during this time at the club. He will always be warmly welcomed at Old Trafford. We also extend our best wishes to Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel, who have also left the club. We will confirm the full composition of the men's first-team coaching staff in due course," concluded United’s statement.
