The Million-Dollar Plan Manchester City Has for Guardiola’s Departure
One of the most shocking departures in football would undoubtedly be Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City. The Spanish manager's contract with the "Citizens" expires in 2025; however, the English club is already preparing a contingency plan for a possible departure.
“We’ve talked with the club and my feeling now is that I want to stay. I will stay next season, and during that season, we will talk,” Guardiola said, setting off alarms at the English club. Nevertheless, they are preparing a fund of over $391 million for signings and to counter the possible departure of the Spaniard.
Part of this fund would be used to try to retain Guardiola, at the request of Sheikh Mansour, the club’s owner. However, the accusations against City for financial fair play violations could be crucial to the manager’s future.
Under Guardiola’s near-absolute command, City has not only become one of the best teams in the world but has also reached the most successful period in its history, both in terms of titles won and revenue from wins and player sales.
