Sterling Already Training with Arsenal: What Can We Expect from His Debut?
English winger Raheem Sterling, Arsenal's last-minute signing, has already completed his first training session with the "Gunners" and is using the international break to adapt to his new team.
Sterling arrived on loan at Arsenal from Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window. Since he was not called up by England, a team he hasn't played for since the 2022 World Cup, he has used these days to start integrating at Arsenal’s training ground in Colney.
The English forward has trained alongside other players released from international duty, such as Ben White, Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Jorginho, and has begun familiarizing himself with Mikel Arteta's tactics. Arteta, who worked with Sterling at Manchester City when the Spaniard was Pep Guardiola’s assistant, had high praise for the winger.
"He's an exceptional guy, and we built a great bond. He was incredible during the time we were together, and he taught me a lot," Arteta said recently upon confirming Sterling's loan, as the winger was sidelined by Chelsea.
Despite participating in preseason and being one of the highest-paid players at the club, Enzo Maresca decided Sterling did not fit into his plans and excluded him from first-team training, along with other players, while waiting to resolve his future.
With interest from Manchester United also on the table, Sterling signed a one-year loan deal with the "Gunners" and could make his debut on September 15 against Tottenham Hotspur.
