Sandro Tonali Awaits a 10-Month Suspension
Italian player Sandro Tonali, who plays for Newcastle, has reached an agreement with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and is now awaiting a 10-month suspension for betting, which will be enforced as soon as the Italian football governing body completes the bureaucratic procedures.
"An agreement has been reached between the FIGC and Sandro Tonali. It is expected to be an 18-month guilty plea agreement, which includes 8 months of rehabilitation activities, some of which are therapeutic, and at least 16 in-person meetings as testimony," revealed Gabriele Gravina, President of the Italian Federation, on Thursday.
The midfielder, formerly with Milan, has therefore played his last minutes this Wednesday, against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, until the next season and will miss the upcoming Euro 2024 if Italy officially secures qualification for the tournament, in which they would defend their title.
