Manchester United Signs the Next Dutch Gem
Manchester United has signed Dutch prodigy Joshua Kirkzee until June 30, 2029, with an option for an additional season, the English club announced in a statement.
Born on May 22, 2001, in Schiedam, Kirkzee was named the best under-23 player in Serie A last season, where he was also Bologna's top scorer, helping them qualify for the UEFA Champions League 2024/25.
Having previously played for Bayern Munich, Parma, and Anderlecht, Kirkzee sees an "exciting future" at Old Trafford. He stated, "I've dedicated everything to winning and I'm ready for this next challenge, to step up to the next level in my career and win trophies."
"It's a privilege to be part of such an iconic club. Now I'll take a brief break after being with the national team (in the Euros), but I'll be back ready to make an immediate impact," he added.
Dan Ashworth, Manchester United's sporting director, emphasized that signing a forward was a "key objective" to strengthen their attacking lineup. He described Kirkzee as an extraordinary talent poised to make a significant mark at the club.
"His ability and ambition to become a world-class player mean he'll be a fantastic addition to the team we're building for the exciting season ahead and beyond," Ashworth concluded
