Manchester United Decides on Ten Hag’s Future
After Sunday’s heavy defeat against Liverpool, the Red Devils have made a decision regarding the Dutch manager.
Despite Sunday’s heavy defeat against Liverpool, Manchester United has backed their manager, Dutchman Erik Ten Hag, reaffirming his position at the club.
Omar Berrada, the club’s chief executive, stated that they "absolutely" believe in Ten Hag, calling him the "right manager" for them and confirming their 100% support.
Ten Hag, who has won an FA Cup and a League Cup in his two years with United but oversaw the club's worst-ever Premier League season last year, extended his contract with the Red Devils in July until 2026.
"The contract decision was made before we arrived," said Berrada, who moved from Manchester City to United this summer. "But we’re very happy with that decision. Erik has our full support, and we’ve worked closely together this summer in the transfer market," Berrada confirmed.
In this season's start, United has lost the Community Shield to City and two of their first three Premier League matches, against Brighton and Liverpool.
"I’m very optimistic about what lies ahead. We’re beginning to put the pieces in place, and I’m absolutely convinced things will go well," Berrada added.
Dan Ashworth, United’s sporting director, echoed Berrada’s sentiments, noting that renewing Ten Hag’s contract was a decision made before his arrival at the club on July 1.
