Lopetegui To Coach West Ham
Julen Lopetegui, former Spain coach and ex-Real Madrid manager, will lead the Hammers, replacing David Moyes.
Julen Lopetegui, former Spain national team coach and ex-Real Madrid manager, will take over as head coach of West Ham United in the English Premier League starting next season, replacing David Moyes whose contract ends on June 30.
As EFE has learned, Lopetegui will return to the English top flight, where he previously coached Wolverhampton Wanderers from November 2022 to August 2023, overseeing 27 official matches. He left the role after the club failed to deliver on promised transfers and faced financial issues, resulting in the sale of key players like Matheus Nunes.
Lopetegui's move to Wolves followed his departure from Sevilla, where he managed from July 2019 to October 2022. This came after a short stint at Real Madrid, where he was dismissed just before the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The former goalkeeper has also managed Porto in Portugal, Spain's youth teams, Real Madrid Castilla, and Rayo Vallecano, where he began his coaching career after retiring as a player with the club in 2002.
West Ham, the reigning UEFA Europa Conference League champions, currently sits in ninth place in the Premier League, with two games remaining in the season.
