Liverpool's Decision Angers Fans
Liverpool fans to protest during Thursday's Europa League match against Atalanta.
Liverpool fans will protest during Thursday's Europa League match against Atalanta over a 2% increase in season ticket prices for next season.
The 'Red' supporters announced they will not display any flags or banners in The Kop stand during the game as a protest against this measure.
"I understand the concern and that this is being talked about," said Jürgen Klopp in a press conference on Wednesday. "It's a complicated issue, we want people in the stadium, and we want access to be possible for everyone. We are a self-sustaining club. Since I've been here, every pound we've earned has been reinvested in football. Many good things can be said about the club, but I understand the complaints."
"I'm sure they will find a solution. We need to make sure that nothing stands between us and the fans."
In a statement, one of Liverpool's main fan groups, Spion Kop 1906, said they are "disappointed" with the club's intention to raise prices and have agreed with other fan groups not to display any flags in The Kop on Thursday.
"There is still a chance for the club to talk to the fans on Sunday. Until then, we have one message: no to price increases."
