Liverpool Announces Jürgen Klopp's Successor
Liverpool confirmed on Monday the signing of Arne Slot as Jürgen Klopp's replacement. The Dutch coach arrives after three seasons at Feyenoord, during which he won an Eredivisie title, a Dutch Cup, and reached the final of the UEFA Conference League.
Jürgen Klopp managed his last game for Liverpool this Sunday, wrapping up nine years at Anfield. During his tenure, he secured several titles, including a Champions League in 2019 and the club's first Premier League title in thirty years.
Arne Slot has no experience outside of his country, where he managed Cambuur and AZ Alkmaar. Slot also has a background as a footballer, having played for Zwolle, NAC Breda, Sparta Rotterdam, and PEC Zwolle before retiring in 2013.
At 45, Slot joins a Liverpool team that has won the League Cup this season, exited the FA Cup in the quarterfinals, and reached the semifinals of the Europa League, finishing third in the Premier League to secure a spot in next season's Champions League.
