Bruno Fernandes Helped Save a Passenger's Life Mid-Flight
The Manchester United midfielder was on an EasyJet flight to Lisbon when a passenger began to feel unwell, and he acted immediately.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes demonstrated his selflessness and quick thinking when he assisted an ill passenger on an EasyJet flight from Manchester to Lisbon this week. Fernandes, who was traveling with teammate Diogo Dalot, noticed a man in distress toward the back of the plane and immediately sprang into action.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old midfielder urgently called out for assistance, shouting, “Excuse me! We need help! Excuse me! We need help!” after noticing the passenger appeared to be passing out. Fernandes, who had been keeping a low profile during the trip, went to the back of the plane where the crew quickly responded to the situation.
Passenger Susanna Lawson, who was also on the flight, recalled the scene: “Bruno went to the loo at the back of the plane during the flight. (We) suddenly heard a shout for assistance which those within hearing distance looked back, including us as we were toward the back.” Lawson noted that the crew rushed to help, and Fernandes helped the man to a spare seat at the back of the plane and stayed with him for several minutes to ensure he was okay. After making sure the passenger was stable, Fernandes returned to his seat without seeking any attention, showcasing his humble nature.
"Honestly, if you didn’t know who he was you would have just thought he was any other passenger," Lawson added. Fernandes later agreed to take a selfie with her when asked politely, remaining courteous and approachable despite the situation.
This unassuming act of kindness comes just days after Fernandes marked his 250th appearance for Manchester United and received an honor at the Quinas De Ouro awards. The midfielder's actions on the flight have been widely praised, with many highlighting his calm and generous nature both on and off the pitch.
As Fernandes prepares for Portugal's match against Poland on Friday, his actions serve as a reminder of his character, going far beyond his impressive football skills.
