VIDEO | Jordi Alba Sets Record with Messi in the Stands
The Argentine star was one of the thousands of spectators who enjoyed the display of assists from the Spanish full-back.
A magical night for Jordi Alba, who was omnipresent with four assists, propelled Inter Miami to a 4-3 victory over Toronto on Thursday, securing a spot in the Leagues Cup Round of 16.
Two goals from Paraguayan Matías Rojas, another from Diego Gómez, and one from Uruguayan Luis Suárez fueled Miami's win, which was answered in part by Canadian goals from penalties, both converted by Italian Lorenzo Insigne.
Leo Messi watched from his private box, continuing his recovery, with a potential return in Inter's next match.
The standout performer was undoubtedly Jordi Alba, who delivered four assists in a single game for the first time.
"I've always been more of an offensive player than a defensive one. I like to provide assists. Today is the first time I've given four in a match; I had done three with Barcelona," Alba said after the match.
The full-back highlighted the improvement in the team since his arrival: "When I came, I saw a team that was last in the table but had more quality than that. This year, we've signed important people and young players who are stepping up."
"You get to know each other more and build connections. With Leo, Luis, and Busi, who I've played with for almost ten years, it's normal. But there are other teammates with enormous quality who work well, listen, and I think we've formed a very good team," Alba added.
